The Dai Ho Chun Distinguished Lecture Series<\/a> hosted by the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature<\/a> presents “Writing the Pacific Plastic Patch,”<\/a> a free public lecture featuring ecopoets Allison Cobb, Stephen Collis and Brian Teare on Friday, November 21. <\/p>\n

There will be a reception at 5 p.m. and poetry readings at 6 p.m. in the Korean Studies Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

About the poets<\/h2>\n

Allison Cobb<\/a> is the author of Born2<\/em> and Green-Wood<\/em>. She is at work on a hybrid genre manuscript called Plastic: an autobiography<\/em>, and she works for the Environmental Defense Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Stephen Collis is the author of The Commons<\/em>, On the Material<\/em>, To the Barricades<\/em> and DECOMP<\/em>. He attended the 2014 Tar Sands Healing Walk<\/a> in Alberta and is now writing about walking, resource extraction and the climate commons. He is professor of contemporary literature at Simon Fraser University<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brian Teare<\/a> is the author of four critically acclaimed books—The Room Where I Was Born<\/em>, Sight Map<\/em>, Pleasure<\/em> and Companion Grasses<\/em>. He is an assistant professor at Temple University<\/a> and he makes books by hand for his micropress, Albion Books<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
