Governor Neil Abercromibe presents Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Day proclamation to team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On behalf of the people of Hawaiʻi<\/span>, Governor Neil Abercrombie proclaimed January 9 to be 2011 University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa Rainbow Wahine Volleyball<\/a> Team Day.<\/p>\n

Noting the team’s 16th consecutive Western Athletic Conference title, NCAA<\/abbr> tournament appearance and national leadership in attendance (averaging 7,000 people per game), the governor praised both the team’s caliber and character. ¶«¾«Ó°Òµ<\/abbr> players serve as role models for young women across the country. <\/p>\n

“We want to be Division I all the way around, including being Division I in the kind of support we give to these young people who give their all for Hawaiʻi<\/span>,” Abercrombie said.<\/p>\n

Head Coach Dave Shoji<\/strong> noted that Hawaiʻi<\/span> may be the only team that can claim its governor as a fan who actually attends volleyball matches.<\/p>\n

Shoji spoke to the responsibility, and team captain Kanani Danielson<\/strong>, to the honor of representing Hawaiʻi<\/span>. Although she is graduating, Danielson said her teammates are working hard to prepare for the fall 2012 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
