The Office of Hawaiian Affairs<\/a> granted the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> Maui College’s Liko Aʻe<\/span> Native Hawaiian Leadership Program<\/a> an award of $187,000. Funds will be used to support the program’s mission to provide scholarships and services to non-traditional Native Hawaiian students who aspire to attain a college degree throughout Hawaiʻi<\/span> and the U.S.<\/p>\n

Since 2003, Liko Aʻe<\/span> has disbursed over 3,400 scholarship awards to Native Hawaiian students pursuing a diverse range of degree programs. Liko Aʻe<\/span> also offers mentoring programs focused on community service projects and online community building.<\/p>\n

“We would like to mahalo The Office of Hawaiian Affairs and our community partners for their unwavering support of our program,” said Kahealani Naeole<\/strong>, Liko Aʻe<\/span>’s project director. “With this funding we will be able to offer about 90-100 scholarships during the fall 2015 semester as well as wrap-around services to non-traditional Native Hawaiian students who aspire to attain higher education.”<\/p>\n
