An episode of Ka Hui Hoʻolauna<\/span><\/a>, the online news series written and produced by students from the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa<\/a> School of Communications journalism department<\/a>, was recognized at the 36th Annual Telly Awards<\/a> with a bronze award in the student TV<\/abbr> program category.<\/p>\n

Episode 15 features a story on the effects of Hawaiʻi<\/span>’s rail project, a public housing complex in Pālolo that’s helping families find a better future, a talk story session with 东精影业<\/abbr> System President David Lassner<\/strong> and much more.<\/p>\n

Ka Hui Hoʻolauna<\/span>’s entry was among close to 12,000 entries from across the nation. The Telly Awards recognizes outstanding local, regional and cable TV<\/abbr> commercials and programs, video and film productions, as well as online commercials, video and films.<\/p>\n

“The Telly Award is an amazing affirmation of our journalism program and a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and teaching staff,” said Bernadette Baraquio<\/strong>, media design and production specialist with the College of Social Sciences<\/a>. “We are thrilled that our recent graduates can confidently move forward in their careers knowing what it takes to produce professional, TV broadcast-quality work. This achievement will hopefully serve as a motivation for future students to continue striving for excellence in journalism and a stronger passion for creative storytelling.”<\/p>\n
