The festival features guest speakers, music, dance, art, films, literature and poetry that beautifully showcase the diversity of cultures found in the world today. All events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p><p>This year&#8217;s theme is &ldquo;HEROES.&rdquo; International students from Korea, Japan, China and Venezuela will introduce participants to the lives and achievements of inspirational African Americans and American women as well as heros in international literature.<\/p>\n<p>The international festival is sponsored by the Honda International Opportunities Fund and the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council.<\/p>\n<p>Featured activities will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Persian epic book, <em>The Shahnameh<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nLandan Hamedani will speak about Persian culture and heroes found in the Persian epic book, <em>The Shahnameh<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The music and dance of Tahiti<\/strong><br \/>\nGuest performers from Te Vevo Tahiti no M&#257;noa, <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa&#8217;s Tahitian Dance Ensemble, will present songs and dances from the island of Tahiti in an exhilarating performance of expressive culture.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span aria-label=\"Pansori\">P&#699;ansori<\/span>: Korean stories through song<\/strong><br \/>\n<span aria-label=\"Pansori\">P&#699;ansori<\/span> originated in the 17th century, in the middle of the Joseon Dynasty (1392&#8211;1897) and is a unique genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer.
