In the &ldquo;educators&rdquo; category, Irvin was selected because of her pioneering research, teaching and promotion of urban literature in public libraries and for her leadership in convening the Street Literature Book Award Medal (2009-present). Her book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.streetliterature.com\/p\/slbam.html\"><em>The Readers Advisory Guide to Street Literature<\/em><\/a>, won book awards from the Reference and Users Services Association of the American Library Association (<abbr>ALA<\/abbr>) and from the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Irvin is an assistant professor at <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa where she teaches reference services, public library services and diversity topics as a tenure-track faculty member of the Library and Information Science Program. Her research program focuses on public librarian identity and professional development with the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> State Public Library System.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This year&#8217;s class of 54 joins a group of talented professionals who are committed, passionate and invigorated&#8212;each alone and all together transforming the library world and the communities it impacts for the better,&rdquo; said Rebecca T. Miller, editorial director of <em>Library Journal<\/em> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slj.com\/\"><em>School Library Journal<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 Movers and Shakers were selected by the editors of <em>Library Journal<\/em>, the profession&#8217;s leading trade magazine.
