San Diego Zoo Global, in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fws.gov\/\"><abbr>U.S.<\/abbr> Fish and Wildlife Service<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/dlnr.hawaii.gov\/dofaw\/\">State of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Division of Forestry<\/a> and Wildlife has created two bird propagation centers in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>&#8212;the <a href=\"http:\/\/institute.sandiegozoo.org\/who-we-are\/global-field-stations\">Keauhou Bird Conservation Center and the Maui Bird Conservation Center<\/a>, with bird releases and other fieldwork occurring at other field sites. <\/p>\n<p>In collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pacb.com\/\">PacBio<\/a>, scientists at San Diego Zoo Global and <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> Hilo have fully sequenced the genome of the <span aria-label=\"alala\">&#699;alal&#257;<\/span>, or Hawaiian crow. Featured in the video is the work of <strong>Jolene Sutton<\/strong>, assistant professor of biology who specializes in evolutionary genetics, population genetics, conservation biology, immunology and genetic engineering, and <strong>Rachel Gorenflo<\/strong>, a <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr>Hilo undergraduate student working with Sutton in the lab of the <a href=\"http:\/\/hilo.hawaii.edu\/depts\/biology\/\">Department of Biology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2016\/01\/28\/gene-sequencing-of-rare-hawaiian-crow-will-assist-in-conservation-efforts\/\"><em>Gene sequencing of rare Hawaiian crow will assist in conservation efforts<\/em><\/a>, January 28, 2016 <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About the video<\/h2>\n<p>Animal care staff at San Diego Zoo Global&#8217;s <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Endangered Bird Conservation Program are celebrating the first <span aria-label=\"alala\">&#699;alal&#257;<\/span> to be hatched in the 2016 breeding season.
