The lecture is part of Windward <abbr>CC<\/abbr>&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/windward.hawaii.edu\/chemistry_forum\/2016_Fall\/\">Community Forum in Chemistry<\/a> series. <\/p>\n<p>Haghighipour, an astronomy professor with the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa, will identify and discuss the occurrence rate of terrestrial-size planets within the Habitable Zone of their host stars. He will also present Kepler data from the most recent catalog of 104 exoplanet candidates with implications of the findings revealing the formation of habitable planets.<\/p>\n<p> The forum is free and open to the public. After a few postdoc positions at the University of California-Irvine, Northwestern University and the Carnegie Institute of Washington, he joined the <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> M&#257;noa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifa.hawaii.edu\/\">Institute for Astronomy<\/a> in 2004. <\/p>\n<p>His field of research is planetary dynamics and planet formation with emphasis on the detection, formation and characterization of habitable planets both in our solar system and extrasolar planets.
