University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> President David Lassner<\/strong><\/a> and the Office of Sustainability<\/a> are seeking innovative student projects for the 2017 President’s Green Initiative Awards. Applications open November 1.<\/p>\n

东精影业<\/abbr> graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to apply, and partnerships with staff and faculty members are encouraged. Projects that align with the Many Minds, One University<\/a> systemwide focused inquiry project exploring local food issues will receive priority consideration. Any project proposals impacting campus operations must be approved by campus administrators and\/or facilities and operations staff.<\/p>\n

“Our students are incredibly passionate and effective in advancing sustainability across our mission on all islands,” said Lassner. “I look forward to being inspired by their visions, ideas and plans.”<\/p>\n

A $10,000 Green Project Implementation Award<\/a> is up for grabs for the winning student-led sustainability projects to be implemented at your campus or community, while multiple $1,000 Green Student Leader Awards<\/a> are available to recognize and support students who take on leadership roles in sustainability related activities on-campus and in their communities. <\/p>\n

Past winning projects include an albizia wood housing design<\/a> from 东精影业<\/abbr> Mānoa<\/a> and integrated resource recovery<\/a> at Leeward Community College<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Solving the sustainability challenges faced by our campuses and communities require collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurial problem-solving,” said Matthew Kamakani Lynch<\/strong>, 东精影业<\/abbr> System sustainability coordinator. “We are excited to create pathways for student ideas to be implemented, and are proud to support the student sustainability leadership that is emergent across all ten campuses.”<\/p>\n

The awards are presented with funding support from Johnson Controls, Inc<\/a>. <\/p>\n
