Burns School of Medicine<\/a> (JABSOM) at the University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> at M&#257;noa\u00a0to continue an extraordinary collaboration with the medical school. Earlier this year,\u00a0Kunming Medical University realized a\u00a0groundbreaking accomplishment&#8212;achieved with assistance from the <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr>\u00a0medical school&#8212;establishing China&#8217;s first-ever accredited academic program in speech and hearing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> News story<\/strong>: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2016\/09\/27\/uh-helps-china-establish-nations-first-accredited-speech-hearing-program\/\"><abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> helps China establish nation&#8217;s first accredited speech-hearing program<\/a><\/em>, September 27, 2016<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&ldquo;There are 1.3 billion people in China and the government is strategically trying to improve the training of health professionals, especially rehab professionals in China,&rdquo; said Zhiyong Luo, director of rehabilitation medicine and professor at Kunming Medical University. &ldquo;Most importantly, the people really need rehabilitation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>During the past year, <abbr title=\"John A.
