To provide students with the opportunity to study sustainability from a variety of perspectives and easily connect with\u00a0faculty teaching sustainability courses, the University of Hawaiʻi<\/span><\/a> has created the S-designation.<\/p>\n

Similar to the way\u00a0“WI<\/abbr>” identifies a writing intensive course, “S” identifies a course that is sustainability-focused or sustainability-related. The S-designation is indicated in Banner comments, and some sustainability-focused courses will appear on transcripts.<\/p>\n
