The successful management of such an immense, diverse and remote acreage on Maunakea is the result of purposeful research, resource monitoring programs, and development of and implementation of resource protection plans through a process involving both Native Hawaiian consultation and the <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> Island community.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/management\/comprehensive-management-plan\">Maunakea Comprehensive Management Plan<\/a>, together with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/uploads\/management\/plans\/CMP_NRMP_2009.pdf\">natural resources<\/a> (<small><abbr>PDF<\/abbr><\/small>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/uploads\/management\/plans\/CMP_CRMP_2009.pdf\">cultural resources management<\/a> (<small><abbr>PDF<\/abbr><\/small>), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/uploads\/management\/plans\/CMP_PublicAccessPlan_2010.pdf\">public access<\/a> (<small><abbr>PDF<\/abbr><\/small>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malamamaunakea.org\/management\/comprehensive-management-plan\/decommissioning\">decommissioning<\/a> plans, guides the organization in the development and implementation of management initiatives to protect these resources.<\/p>\n<p>Compendiums to these plans include a State Historic Preservation Division approved Burial Treatment Plan and an award-winning Long-term Monitoring Plan.
