Pilot Andr\u00e9 Borschberg, the filmmakers, government and environmental leaders will appear at the November 5 screening.<\/p>\n<p>The University of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> hosted the Solar Impulse 2 and its crew during the eight month pit stop following the flight from Japan to <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> in July 2015, the longest nonstop solo flight in history.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr> News story<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/news\/2015\/07\/07\/solar-powered-planes-team-holds-special-session-for-university-of-hawaii\/\">Solar-powered plane\u2019s team holds special session for <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr><\/a>, July 7, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The journey from Japan to <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, a milestone for aviation and clean energy, took five and nights and 5,545 miles to complete. Technical difficulties would keep the Solar Impulse aircraft grounded until vital improvements could be made.<\/p>\n<p>At <abbr title=\"东精影业\">东精影业<\/abbr>&#8217;s hangar in Kalaeloa Airport, the crew\u2019s pit stop drew enthusiastic crowds from the university and local public, including Gov. David Ige&#8212;just as <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> embarked on a clean energy journey of its own. Around the same time, the governor signed legislation directing <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>&#8216;s utilities to generate 100 percent of their electricity from renewable energy resources by 2045.<\/p>\n<p>Milestones like these have not been lost on filmmakers, Noel Dockstader and Quinn Kanaly, who followed the pilots and crew for ten months&#8212;including several months on <span aria-label=\"Oahu\">O&#699;ahu<\/span> during some of the most make-or-break moments in the flight\u2019s journey.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I want this story of ingenuity and grit to give people hope against the huge environmental challenges we&#8217;re facing today,&rdquo; says Kanaly. &ldquo;And to premiere in <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span> where it all came to fruition is very special to us.
