Experimenting with electricity and yeast fermentation is actually a project for the state\u2019s first culinology student, <strong>Alan Martin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Martin will be the first graduate of the four-year <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> culinology program, consisting of science degrees with two years of <a href=\"http:\/\/culinary.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/academics\/\">institutional food service management<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kapiolani.hawaii.edu\/\"><span aria-label=\"Kapiolani\">Kapi&#699;olani<\/span> Community College<\/a>, followed by two years of <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu\/hnfas2\/Undergraduate\/Food-Sciences-Human-Nutrition\/Culinology\">food science and human nutrition&#8211;culinology<\/a> from <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> M\u0101noa.<\/p>\n<p>He is already applying what he learns at <abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> to one of his jobs in the field as a baker at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kahalaresort.com\/\">Kahala Hotel and Resort<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Having a way better understanding of how yeast really works on a molecular level or microscopic level really helped me understand how the bread works,&rdquo; Martin says. &ldquo;Since I started taking those (culinology) courses, my bread\u2019s been coming out way better.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The hotel\u02bbs executive chef, Wayne Hirabayashi, says Martin has already developed new signature items and will help to expand the shelf life of other products, such as the hotel\u2019s chocolate macadamia nuts.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It\u02bbs limitless,&rdquo; says Hirabayashi. &ldquo;<abbr>东精影业<\/abbr> is part of <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>, and <span aria-label=\"Hawaii\">Hawai&#699;i<\/span>\u2019s just growing so fast.
