University of Hawaiʻi<\/span> at Mānoa<\/a> graduate students affiliated with the East-West Center<\/a> recorded the music album Finding Home<\/em><\/a> to raise awareness about the global refugee crisis.<\/p>\n

“Our hope as educated international<\/a> graduate students<\/a> was to inspire connection and hope, and to help relate the experiences of refugees to the general public,” said Layla Kilolu<\/strong>, a graduate student in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning<\/a> in the College of Social Sciences<\/a> and president of the East-West Center Participants Association.<\/p>\n

Recorded in East-West Center’s residential housing by Grammy-award winning music producer Dave Tucciarone, and co-produced by Kilolu, Finding Home<\/em> was digitally released on December 18, 2018.<\/p>\n

The artists will debut an inaugural performance of their songs and poems at the Transcendients: Immigrant Stories of Place<\/em> art installation by Terasaki Exhibitions<\/a> on Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. at Thomas Square Park in Honolulu. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
