Prismatic Breath – Faculty Recital Series with Dr. Alex Hayashi

Dr. Alex Hayashi, lecturer in oboe, will perform a faculty recital with Megumi Kurachi on piano. Prismatic Breath, will explore the versatility of the oboe as a solo instrument. The breath of the performer acts as a prism, refracting a single column of air into wide spectrum of colors through sound. This program will feature lyrical and technical virtuosity that expands through various time periods, genres, and techniques. Program: Dranishnikova – Poem Peck – Fade for oboe and tape Silvestrini – Six Études Pittoresque for solo oboe Morris – Chameleon Lament for oboe (doubling piano) Pasculli – Fantasia sull’opera “Les Hugenots” di Meyerbeer Orvis Auditorium Admission: Free
