Workshop on Literary Translation for students of European Languages

Olga Bukhina, Translator, Writer, Children’s Books Specialist will host a hands-on workshop on literary translation for students of French, German, Russian, and Spanish, as well as for the members of the community. We will translate into English two short prose excerpts from well-known children’s books, written in French, German, Russian, or Spanish, time-tested and contemporary. Working with these texts, we will discuss various translation strategies and pitfalls. For those who would like to practice translating from English into these languages, a selection of children’s texts originally written in English will also be available.
