About the Book

In this gripping crime and legal thriller, truth and justice are called into question when a Black man is gunned down in cold blood. Set on the historic night of November 4, 2008, the election of America鈥檚 first Black president鈥攖he novel follows Hollis Montrose, a Black former police officer who survives a brutal traffic stop shooting and is later wrongfully imprisoned.

The story centers on Beau Lee Cooper, a determined attorney shaped by the turbulence of 1970s Texas and inspired by To Kill a Mockingbird. As Beau Lee digs deeper into Hollis鈥檚 case, he uncovers dangerous truths, powerful opposition, and a justice system working against the very man it should protect. The novel invites readers to wrestle with questions of justice, truth, and accountability.
