Faith in Difficult Times: Mindfulness, Christianity, and Social Holiness

April 29, 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Queen Lili驶uokalani Center 412

Join us for an engaging and reflective conversation on mindfulness, Christianity, and social holiness with Pastor Won-Seok Yuh. This event invites students and community members to explore mindfulness practices and faith-based approaches that support well-being, resilience, and student success. Together, we will consider how to navigate fear, division, and despair while fostering connection, compassion, and social responsibility.

A key focus of this gathering is the concept of social holiness, a term rooted in Christian theology that emphasizes that personal faith cannot be separated from communal responsibility. Social holiness calls individuals to live out their spirituality through relationships, service, and active care for others鈥攅specially those who are marginalized or vulnerable. It suggests that spiritual growth happens not in isolation, but in community, through acts of compassion, accountability, mindfulness and shared purpose.

We will also explore how social holiness compares with and complements ideas of social justice. Together, these frameworks offer powerful tools for engaging both the personal and collective work of building a more equitable and compassionate world.
